Ideal Systems for Shops: Wall-Mounted Air Conditioners
Wall-mounted air conditioners are usually the most cost-effective option to install in a shop mainly because they are easy to retrofit without the need for redecoration. Wall-mounted units are long, thin, and placed at a high level on the wall.
When choosing a wall-mounted unit, it is important that they are placed in the optimum position in the room that will provide maximum air flow. If your room has a high heat load, then it is often preferable to install multiple, less powerful units than fewer powerful ones (AC units that will cause unbalanced cooling). There are also some premium models that look very aesthetically pleasing.
Ceiling-Mounted 'Cassette' Units for Shops
Ceiling-mounted ‘cassette’ units are another good option for shops. Although they are slightly more expensive than wall units, ceiling ‘cassettes’ are almost entirely hidden within a suspended ceiling and are therefore more discreet and aesthetically pleasing; all that is visible is an almost-flush facia panel.
A significant advantage of ceiling cassette AC units is that they do not take up valuable wall space which is often better suited to selling than being ‘home’ to an air conditioning unit. They also provide a balanced four-way airflow and are best placed in the centre of the shop which helps eradicate any ‘hot spots’ keeping all your customers happy!
Under-Ceiling Units for Shops
Under-ceiling air conditioners are best suited to large shops as they provide powerful air flow up to 10m from the unit. Unlike ceiling ‘cassette’ units, which are placed within a ‘false ceiling’, they are simply mounted straight on the ceiling itself (usually near a wall).
While they are not as aesthetically pleasing as other options, they are the most powerful option in terms of air flow. The power of these units allows us to recommend fewer units than we would have recommended with another style of unit. This often helps reduce installation costs and frees up valuable wall space too.
